About the webmaster and his website


The gay scene in Lima is so well-hidden that when I first went there in 1997 it appeared there was no gay community there at all. After discovering the scene I created this gay guide as a pastime and hobby when I found there was no other information in English about the gay scene in Lima. My intention also was that gay visitors to Lima would quickly be able to find places that interested them without being put at risk or enticed into dangerous places or situations in an attempt to search for those places. This is an entirely personal view of Lima gay life (with a little help from my friends in Peru). I do not ask for or receive any payment or other benefits from any of the businesses listed here.

My name is Ian, I am from Manchester, England, and I lived in South America from April 1997 firstly in Lima, Peru, and from April 2004 in Buenos Aires, Argentina until September 2007. I have traveled extensively in Peru, and the rest of South America, (you can read about some of my travels in Ian's Travel Tales - see Useful Links on another page. I have a good knowledge of gay life and places in Lima, Peru and to a lesser extent Quito, Ecuador; Santiago, Chile; and Buenos Aires, Argentina . The best advice I can give to any independent traveler intending to visit this continent is to join the South American Explorers whose information resources, services and discounts will undoubtedly make your travels easier and cheaper.
