Peru is a spectacular country with much to offer tourists and travellers. There are the well-known destinations like Cuzco and Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Nazca Lines, Paracas, and the Amazon Rainforest. Less well-known but equally worth a visit if time allows are the highest passenger railway in the world between Lima and Huancayo, the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca near Huaraz, the amazing pre-Inca Kuelap fortress near Chachapoyas, and the gold treasure of Sipan near Chiclayo.

Most travellers to Peru only spend a day or two in Lima before leaving to discover the rest of the country. My intention with this guide is that gay and lesbian travellers new to Lima don't waste their time or put themselves at risk in worthless or undesirable places. This guide will direct you straight to the best spots (and maybe encourage you to spend a little longer in this fascinating city).

This is an entirely personal view of gay Lima life (with a little help from my friends in Peru). I moved from Lima to Buenos Aires in April 2004 and so this web site is maintained less frequently. However not much changes on the gay scene in Lima and the principal and most popular venues will continue be there; just make a quick phone call to confirm before you go.
