Eating Places

All this activity is sure to make you hungry. Lima has no shortage of eating places from top restaurants to street vendors. Here are a few where I have truly appreciated the food, the service and the price.

Restaurants in Miraflores

La Petite France, Colon 161, Miraflores
Tel: 243-2054.
Gay-owned French restaurant in Miraflores. Open Mon - Sat, 11am - 4pm and 7pm - 11pm. A la carte, executive, and light menu. Visa, Mastercard, Diners & American Express cards accepted.

El Señorio de Sulco, Malecon Cisneros 1470, Miraflores
Tel: 441-0389, 441-0183. Open Mon. - Sun. Visa & Mastercard accepted.

Of course it isn't cheap but the food, the selection, the service, the decor and the location all contribute to make this a very satisfying experience for lunch or dinner.




El Perico/Sherik, corner of Alcanfores and Cantuarias, Miraflores
Open Mon. - Sat.
These two restaurants are side by side and both are very popular at lunchtime with office workers and executives. Good food, and quick and friendly service. Get there before 1.15 p.m. or you could have trouble getting a table.

Rincón Chami, Esperanza 154, Miraflores
Telf: 444-4511. Open Mon. - Sat. 8 a.m. - 9 p.m., Sun. 8 a.m - 5 p.m.
Definitely my favourite place for a-la-carte Peruvian cuisine. This unassuming restaurant is best at lunchtime but arrive before 1.15 pm or you may not get a table. Great food, good portions, friendly service, fair prices; no wonder it is so popular.

Tarata Caffé, Pasaje Tarata 260, Miraflores
Telf: 446-6330. Open daily.
Choice of four starters and six main courses. Imaginative lunchtime menu, freshly-cooked food, good service and a nice pianist too. A la carte menu also. Popular.

La Tranquera, Av. Pardo 285, Miraflores.
Telf: 447-5111. Open Mon. - Sun. 12 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Parillada Argentine-style steak-house. If you don't have cholesterol problems then go here. Their steak is imported; the mixed grill is sensational.

El Angelito Verde, Av. Benavides 451, Miraflores.
Telf: 241-8140
Small vegetarian restaurant with lunchtime menu Mon - Fri. Choice of starters, choice of main course, dessert and drink. Also fresh fruit juices and sandwiches.

Pin Point - Cafe Italiano, Av. Larco 1120, Miraflores
Telf: 242-0521. Open daily.
Small cafe with probably the most delicious cup of coffee in Lima.

Sihams Rincon Arabe Latino, Jr. Independencia 633, Miraflores.
Telf: 447-5229
Another of Lima's secrets. This small and simple restaurant serves excellent Arab cuisine at very reasonable prices. The Surtido (a mixture of different Arabian specialities) is sufficient for two people.
